Create Really Awesome Light Paintings in 3 Mins
During my Internship at Yellow Slice, I was asked to give a presentation on the Yellow day. I had no idea about the topic that I should choose for the presentation. I decided that the theme for the day was neon as it went in sync with the topic of my presentation i.e. light painting.
Light painting is a photographic technique in which images are made by moving light source through the frame of long exposure also called slow shutter photography). Slow shutter is the length of the time when the digital sensor inside the camera is exposed to light. It can achieve a motion blur for moving objects.
Man Ray was the first known art photographer to use the technique. Man Ray’s contribution to light painting photography came in his series “Space Writing” (artwork). In 1935 Man Ray set up a camera to produce a self-portrait.

Light painting is not used as a fancy photography but nowadays photographer uses it as their creative medium to enhance their photography, beautify them and add meaning to it. Light painting has influenced many people around in many fields. Alpheon is a car company who did their advertisement using light painting medium. Some people also make typography from it and it has gained a lot of appraisal around the globe. It’s not only a fun technique but also a brilliant way to influence people.
At the end of my presentation, these guys were posed with a task. I brought fire sparklers for them so that they could create their own light painting which was captured by me on the phone.
