Balancing Credibility, Discovery & Monetisation
Making Founder & Investor Discovery Clear, Not Cluttered
Spotlight wanted to enhance the platform’s UX/UI to meet standards. The challenge was to highlight exclusive releases and collaborations, aiding user discovery and revenue. Spotlight needed a clear and cohesive brand foundation that could communicate trust, long-term partnership, and growth to founders and investors alike. As a platform operating in high-stakes investment relationships, the brand had to feel credible and professional without appearing cold or transactional. The challenge was to translate abstract brand values into a visual language that felt emotionally resonant yet strategically grounded.

Using the STEP (Soak, Think, Execute, Proof) process, we shaped Spotlight around real founder and investor behaviours to simplify discovery and strengthen trust. We translated Spotlight’s core values into a cohesive visual system using clear metaphors and symbolism. Each visual direction was intentionally chosen to express trust, continuity, clarity, growth, and momentum in a way that felt human yet professional.

Decoding the Ecosystem
A 360° View
Our research focused on understanding how founders and investors discover opportunities, evaluate credibility, and decide where to engage. We studied how users navigate programs, portfolio companies, insights, and collaborations and what signals they rely on to build trust.
Need for a Strong Content & Insights Hub
The audit revealed a gap in Spotlight’s content ecosystem, with limited access to articles, blogs, market perspectives by partners, research notes, founder stories, and thought leadership.

- The homepage lacked a scannable hierarchy to clearly showcase Spotlight’s mission, credibility markers, and primary CTAs for founders and investors.
- The “About Us” section didn’t clearly communicate Spotlight’s fund philosophy, long-term vision, and differentiators in a quick, mobile-friendly narrative.
- The co-working space offering felt feature-heavy, making it harder for users to quickly grasp value, pricing, and suitability for their needs.

Architecting Experience
From Insights to Frameworks
A team of eight UI/UX designers created sitemaps to ensure all screens for the product function smoothly. Our research defined Spotlight’s brand personality, identifying a blended archetype: Sage for trust, Hero for momentum, and Caregiver for empathy. This framework shaped interaction patterns and content tone.

Solution
Value-Driven Program Discovery
The Incubation Centre section was designed to clearly highlight founder benefits: funding access, investor connects, mentorship, workspace, and partner perks. Information was broken into scannable modules so founders can quickly evaluate value and take action without cognitive overload.
Credibility Through Portfolio Storytelling
We designed the portfolio section to make Spotlight’s impact tangible. It enables users to browse companies through clear filters and explore detailed success stories, founder testimonials, and Spotlight’s role in their growth. This helps build trust, demonstrate real outcomes, and reinforce Spotlight’s credibility at scale.
Technical Architecture Pattern
The platform is built using Next.js 16 with the App Router and React Server Components on the frontend, supported by a separate Express.js API for backend services. Data is managed with Supabase (PostgreSQL), with Supabase Storage used for handling media. Resend powers contact form emails, while Vercel Analytics is used to track product performance and usage.

Form Meets Function
Designing Engaging Interfaces
We used motion design with a clean 2D style and smooth transitions. The Spotlight logo symbolizes progress with an upward arrow replacing the letter “I.” Adequate breathing space around the Signeasy logo ensures clarity.
