Know how we at Yellow Slice helped iKen online education platform improve and boost its offerings with our UI/UX design solutions.
Online education gained momentum during the pandemic and has since become a constant for many students and teachers. While schools may have started offline teaching, students still take up extra classes online to gain a competitive edge.
For effective online education, the software or app that facilitates the education needs to be robust and easy enough to be used by the school children. If the software/app is too complex, then neither the students nor the teacher will be able to use it effectively.
Hence, when Mexus Education decided to create an online education application, they approached Yellow Slice to design the UI and UX of their app.
iKen is an online education platform created by Mexus Education to promote learning through entertainment. It offers learning packages based on subjects and allows students, teachers, and parents to collaborate for the all-around development of the children.
The app connects subject teachers with students who want to learn to promote better learning experiences from subject experts and the progress of each child is communicated to their parents.
Mexus Education wanted us to design an app that motivates students while providing support, reporting, and clear communication among parents, teachers, and students. They planned on achieving this through:
We needed to keep in mind, all these points while designing the application.
We understood that kids and teenagers made up a significant part of the users of this app. Hence, the designs we create had to be bright, engaging, and encouraging enough to keep the students interested.
That said, parents and teachers also made up a good part of the app’s user group. Based on this understanding, we create the user personas to comprehend their aims and expectations from the app.
The three different user groups of the app needed different features of the app to do their work efficiently. Hence the elements and task flow for all three would be different. We segregated our design process into three groups to focus on each user group separately.
To ensure that the user experience is as smooth and intuitive as possible, we paid attention to the workflow designs. Different workflows were created for students, teachers, and schools.
Wireframes were created based on the task flow and different dashboards for teachers, students, and schools.
With the wireframes in place, we moved on to create the UI elements that we were going to use in the application.
For Teachers & Schools
The users loved the app and found it easy to use. The app’s intuitive user interface makes it easy to navigate through the app regardless of whether the user is a student, parent, or teacher.
Here’s a review one of the users posted about the user interface update.
“It's a very good application for the easy mode of communication between the parents students and teachers. Easy to use Easy to handle Way normal graphics Updates have made fonts and designs more cool than earlier” – Raj Aryan Sharma
